Synopsis

She will go to the ball. But nothing will go to plan…
A magic girl.
A talking dog.
Let’s get this party started . . .

Cinders lives a boring life with her selfish stepsisters and mean stepmother. So when her wishes start magically coming true it’s a surprise to say the least.

Then Cinders meets her fairy godmother: she’s magic, she can fly, and she’s called . . . Brian.

Soon, Cinders finds herself heading to the glamorous ball at the King’s palace. But Brian is NOT very reliable, and Cinders is NOT very good at magic. Now her life isn’t boring at all – it’s total chaos!

My Review

In case you didn’t know (where have you been if this is the case) Lindsey Kelk is my all-time favourite Author. I love her I Heart and About A Girl series and every new book she writes, I without a doubt pick up.

So, here we are, Lindsey’s first middlegrade novel, perfect for readers aged 7-9. Unfortunately, I don’t have any children, so, I picked up the book for myself. The audio book was available on Scribd and I’m so glad I took this route. Narrated by Katherine Parkinson, James Goode, Adjoa Andoh and Paul Panting, they were brilliant, really brought the story to life and had me laughing several times.

Cinders and Sparks is a Cinderella retelling following Cinders, her stepsisters, evil stepmother, her dog Sparks and her fairy godmother, Brian.

Brian is absolutely brilliant and exactly how I’d expect my fairy godmother to be if I ever had one.

Such an adorable, funny and addictive book. Yet again, Lindsey as smashed it.

Cinders and Sparks: Fairies in the Forest is released on 17th October and Cinders and Sparks: Goblins and Gold is released on February 6th 2020.

I gave this adorable book 5/5 stars.
