Yay! Christmas films! Who doesn’t love a good Christmas film?!

I was going to write a “reasonable” paragraph about each film, but there are so many films that I absolutely love and some that I hadn’t even thought of until my brother suggested them (because he’s a connoisseur of Christmas films!); therefore, I am just going to write a little paragraph about why I love a certain film, and why I think that you should watch it. So, let’s get to it…

The Holiday – I’ve started with this film because I see it as a Christmas film that isn’t too “full on” about the season. You can watch this film at any time of the year, and not feel silly about it (if you’re one of those people who feels daft about watching a Christmas film at any time of the year outside of December!).

Miracle On 34th Street (1994) – Kris Kringle… Susan and Bryan. Do you need any other explanation?!

It’s A Wonderful Life – Classic black & white movie that shows the true meaning of Christmas and life in general. I absolutely love this film!

Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas – I will forever love this film! “Where are you, Christmas? Why can’t I find you? Why have you gone away?” ADORE it!

Love Actually – How much “fantastic” can you have in one film?! Because this one has it all… and more! If you haven’t seen this film, what have you been doing with your life?! Seriously?!

Home Alone – Is it necessary for me to explain why this film is brilliant?! Everyone’s seen it, right?! I will never not love this film. It’s a classic; one that my sister-in-law is obsessed with and will watch, at least 5 times over the Christmas period… and, maybe, another 5 times throughout the year, just for good measure!

Elf – Well, because… “OMG, SANTAAAA!!! I KNOW HIM!!!” Am I right?! I WILL forever laugh during (and love) this film; it’s hilarious! (See what I did there?… WILL?!).

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – I am by no means expecting the entire world to have seen this. But this is a family favourite in the Barraclough household. We watch this, every year, and love it. If you haven’t seen it, yet, you’re missing out. Put it on your list, this year!

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean – Again, another family favourite in our Barra household! It’s like Mr. Bean is a part of our family, and has been so, forever. My brother and I have been watching Mr. Bean sketches since we were little, and we’re obsessed! This one is a classic for me.

The Snowman – Another classic that gets watched during EVERY SINGLE Christmas Day in our house! After dinner, we all sit down and settle in to watch The Snowman, and we’ve done this since Matt (my brother) and I were kids. We now watch The Snowman And The Snowdog and Father Christmas, straight afterwards, as well.

So, there you have it – my favourite Christmas films.

I will note – I asked Matt for some advice on this subject due to his extensive Christmas film collection, and have decided to leave a list, below that includes some of his recommendations (re: films to watch during the Christmas period)… enjoy!
